History

Why is Saint John Bosco the patron saint of our school and parish?

Back in the 1940’s, Father Little (uncle to Archbishop Little), Parish Priest of St Therese’s Essendon, had in former years a close association with the Salesian Priests.

He decided that if he had to build churches and schools, that the first would would be dedicated to Our Lady, (Our Lady of the Nativity, West Essendon) and the second to St John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian Order.

That is how we became St John Bosco’s, Niddrie.

This association with the Salesian Order is still in the parish through Boscare.
